FAQ

Can access control link with attendance?

Yes, we offer combined access and attendance solutions with reports.

How we scope an access control project

We start from the doors, not the reader. During the survey every door is listed individually: material (wood, metal, glass, gate), which way it swings, whether it is an emergency exit, and how many people pass through it per hour. That list produces the reader count, the lock type for each door and the cable routes — the items that create the real difference between two quotations that look alike on the front page.

What actually drives the cost

  • Number of doors and the right lock for each; a heavy metal door needs a drop bolt, not a light magnetic lock.
  • Standalone or centralised. A central system adds a controller and management software, and it earns its cost once you have several doors or frequent staff turnover.
  • Cable distances and routes; a fully finished building is a completely different job from one under fit-out.
  • Backup power per door, which we treat as mandatory rather than optional.
  • Fire alarm integration to release every door on alarm — a basic requirement in larger premises.

Fail-safe and fail-secure: the decision that matters most

On every door we record what should happen when power is lost. Fail-safe releases automatically and is mandatory on emergency exits. Fail-secure stays locked and belongs on stores and secure rooms. Fitting the wrong one on an escape route is not a preference — it can trap people inside during a fire, and it is the mistake we most often find on systems installed by others.

Our installation process

Survey and door schedule ← itemised technical and commercial proposal ← supply and installation ← commissioning with every door tested both on mains and with power removed ← employee enrolment and permission setup ← training the administrator on adding and removing users and pulling reports ← documented handover.

What you receive at handover

A drawing of reader and lock positions, a list of device names and network addresses, credentials for the management software, a saved copy of the configuration, and a maintenance contract with a defined response time. A system handed over without this paperwork becomes a sealed box the moment the technician or the responsible manager changes.

Sectors we install for

Companies and administrative offices, factories and production lines, hospitals and clinics, schools and institutes, compounds and residential towers, stores and warehouses, and banks with strict requirements on vaults and control rooms.

Maintenance and warranty

Warranty covers hardware; the maintenance visit covers what actually wears in service — the power supply battery, lock alignment after a door drops on its hinges, and a dirty face-reader lens. Most access control faults are one of these three, which is why a scheduled visit costs far less than replacing devices that were never broken.

Questions we are asked constantly

Can an old system be upgraded rather than replaced?

Often yes. If the cabling and locks are sound we replace only the reader and controller, at a fraction of the cost of a new installation.

What happens during a power cut?

The battery-backed supply keeps the system running, and emergency doors are configured to release automatically, because life safety takes priority over security.

Can access control be linked to CCTV?

Yes, and we recommend it. Recording the moment each door opens alongside the person's image turns a line in a report into visual evidence.
